We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, reliable, highly motivated individual with experience in Primary Care to the role of Nurse Associate. The Nurse Associate works within their scope of practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code.
Main duties of the job:
- Undertake and record clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight, BMI and urinalysis.
- Perform venepuncture, capillary blood sampling and other diagnostic procedures.
- Carry out ECGs.
- Deliver wound care including dressings, suture removal and basic wound assessment.
- Administer injections as delegated and within scope of practice.
- Support patient chronic disease reviews and monitoring (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension) under supervision.
- Support patients with long-term conditions, including those with complex needs such as dementia and mental health conditions.
- Undertake NHS Health Checks.
- Carry out cervical cytology (if trained and competent).
- Administer vaccinations and immunisations under Patient Group Directions (PGDs) or Patient Specific Directions (PSDs), including childhood immunisations (if appropriately trained and assessed as competent).
- Undertake home visits for housebound patients for annual reviews, vaccinations and monitoring as delegated.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients or safeguarding concerns.

Job responsibilities:
The Nurse Associate works alongside a team within general practice. The post holder will be an integral part of the general practice team at Peel House Medical Practice.
Person Specification:
- Registered nursing associate and on the NMC register.
- Meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified in the Nursing Midwifery Standards of proficiency by having undertaken and completed the two-year Foundation Degree delivered by a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approved provider.
- Experience of working in a primary care environment.
