Are you looking to join a busy, friendly team within Primary Care? As part of our nursing team you will have structured appointments and work across all aspects of chronic disease management as well as immunisations and screening tests.
Main duties of the job:
- Chronic disease management including respiratory, diabetes and cardiovascular.
- Immunisations for both children and adults.
- Screening tests including cervical cytology.

About us:
We are a busy town centre practice consisting of 7 GPs, 2 practice nurses and a HCA. We have a team of receptionists and administrators who support our patients and the clinical team. The whole team is completed with an Office Manager and Business Practice Manager. We have a current list size of 10,150 and have a diverse patient population.
Job responsibilities:
Our aim is to provide a high standard of clinical care in a General Practice setting. We are responsive to patients' needs in improving and caring for their health requirements. It is expected that all duties will be carried out courteously and efficiently with total confidentiality. Peel GPs require a high standard of patient confidentiality and care at all times.
Main Duties:
- Providing assessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice.
- Providing nursing treatments to patients in participation with the GPs or independently to agreed protocols, standards and guidelines.
- Undertake the collection, storage and dispatch of pathological specimens.
- Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.
Business:
- Promote the services of Peel GPs in a professional manner.
- An awareness of forthcoming changes within the NHS and General Practice.
Communication and Data:
- Daily use of the clinical software system EMIS.
- Recording of accurate data both written and computerized.
- Monitor and record temperatures of vaccine refrigerators.
- Having a thorough knowledge of QoF (Quality and Outcome Framework) and its requirements through the working day.
- Nurse Lead for Public Health.
- Nurse Lead for Education.
- Liaising with other health care professionals and agencies.
- Participate in audits.
- Co-operate and participate in any research projects.
- Participate in the education and training of students.
- Work as a team member.
- Participate in Practice learning sessions.
- Attendance at meetings e.g. staff, clinical and patient participation group.
- Participate in annual appraisal and reviews.
- Maintain a record of own personal/professional development.
- Promote and represent Peel GPs at meetings/visits in a professional manner.

Information may only be divulged to authorized persons in accordance with Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality, NHS Code of Practice and the Data Protection Act or any other statute.
Assisting the Management Team:
- Maintaining an accurate control of medical stock.
- Attend and comply with Health & Safety training and regulations.
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks.
- Effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.
- The use of infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy, safe and hazard-free area.
- To report potential risks identified to the Business Practice Manager.
- Attend resuscitation training.
- Attend any other training/updates as required for your post.
- Attendance at training sessions e.g. in-house/external/remote.
- Valid membership of professional bodies e.g. NMC and RCN.
- To work in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct and within the scope of professional practice and Peel GPs standard of delivery of services.

Person Specification:
- Holds current NMC Registration for Registered Nurse.
- Holds current RCN membership.
- Post graduate diploma or degree - Primary Care.
Experience:
- Primary Care Experience essential (GP Practice).
