Pedal & Post is leading the way with sustainable logistics. We are a local company with big ambitions and a vision of addressing the climate emergency within the logistics sector. This gives us a strong purpose and a strong working culture primarily around cycle logistics and cargo bikes. We have a clear strategy to expand, increase our coverage area, and improve our operational efficiencies. We specialise in first and last mile delivery, same day delivery, and pioneering projects in medical logistics that have never been done in the UK before!
We will be recruiting for a Cycle Mechanic to join our team in Oxford, bringing new ideas and experience to help our business achieve greater heights by leading and inspiring from the front. This role will be based at our Depot in Oxford, OX2 0EX.
As a Cycle Mechanic, you will have the autonomy and responsibility for:
- Day-to-day maintenance, inspections, and diagnosis of our cargo bike fleet.
- Recovery service for breakdowns, supporting our team on the roadside, and assisting with spares kits to reduce the probability of breakdowns.
- Training new riders and supporting our training course.
What we’re looking for:
- Cytech qualification is beneficial but not required.
- Ability to report to our Head Mechanic and manage designated repairs via our software platform.
- Basic IT skills.
- Flexibility to manage your own workload/hours with minimal supervision.
- Support with mechanical developments, improvements, and upgrades to the cargo bike fleet.
- Team player with the ability to communicate openly and quickly.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- A person capable of decisive and effective decision-making in a time-pressured environment.
- A passion for motivating and being part of a purpose-driven business.
- Enjoyment in resolving problems and demonstrating high levels of resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility.
Job Specifics:
You will have a comprehensive induction to Pedal & Post, including current systems and processes. You’ll be expected to pass our cargo bike training scheme and be capable of covering any of our delivery routes if demand is high. Our depot operates 6 days a week; however, this role is flexible. As long as the team is supported with breakdowns and maintenance, you'll be free to choose your working days and hours that best fit the team's needs.
You will also support training new riders on cargo bikes and teach our existing team basic repair skills, reducing the need for breakdown support, creating spares kits on our bikes, and helping improve our systems and processes.
This role will also support the rollout of a hire cargo bike scheme and maintain these bikes, with a fleet of around 40 cargo bikes in total. A full UK driving license is preferable; however, training towards this can be supported for the right candidate.
Remuneration:
Your package will include a basic salary with large potential for it to increase with the depot's expansion. Use of company vehicles/cargo bikes, and access to great perks with local businesses in Oxford.
