We specialise in efficient, sustainable solutions—from complex flat moves to large-scale hot food deliveries—while maintaining high training standards and a collaborative work environment.
The Role:
We are seeking an innovative, hands-on Head Mechanic to lead our maintenance team and improve the efficiency of our Urban Arrow cargo bike fleet. You will streamline operations by re-standardising fleet parts and upskilling new riders in basic maintenance, thus reducing the workload on our workshop team. You will also manage a small team of mechanics, oversee daily maintenance and repairs, contribute to prototype development for new bikes and trailers, and ensure optimal workshop organisation and health and safety compliance. Occasional riding duties are required (full training provided).
Immediate Priorities:
- Fleet Re-standardisation: Standardise parts to simplify operations.
- Rider Upskilling: Train new riders in basic maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement systems to reduce mechanical workload and cut costs.
- Lead, manage, and train a small team of mechanics and junior staff.
- Oversee maintenance, repairs, stock management, and workshop organisation.
- Analyse data to identify and address significant mechanical costs.
- Maintain clear communication with the mechanics team and dispatch.
- Guide riders in maintaining their bikes to pre-empt issues.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a mechanic role, particularly with Bosch e-bike systems and cargo bikes.
- Strong organisational skills and a systematic approach.
- Ideally, some people management and R&D experience.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for teaching.
- Willingness to ride a cargo bike when required (full training provided).
