Job Overview
Pebble & Nest is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Food Counter Barista to join our hospitality team. You\’ll play a key role in delivering a warm, high-quality café experience for families by preparing beverages and food, managing the till, maintaining equipment and cleanliness, and providing friendly service—especially to our youngest guests.

Duties

• Prepare and serve a variety of hot drinks, including espresso-based coffees, to a consistent and professional standard.
• Operate the till, process orders accurately, and handle customer transactions efficiently.
• Use a confectionery oven to heat and bake pastries, baked goods, and light meals.
• Assemble and serve cold food items such as sandwiches, salads, and kids\’ snack boxes.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic café space including counters, food prep areas, and dining tables.
• Ensure all hygiene and food safety protocols are followed to the highest standards.
• Monitor stock levels daily and pre-inform the manager when items are running low.
• Use all machinery properly and responsibly; report and address any malfunctions or misuse immediately.
• Conduct or coordinate minor maintenance tasks for café equipment and fixtures as needed.
• Maintain clear labeling and careful handling of all allergen-sensitive food items.
• Clear and clean tables after each guest; support scheduled cleaning routines and end-of-day close-down procedures.
• Provide friendly, warm, and patient service to both adults and children.
• Assist with food and drink service for birthday parties and private events.

Skills

• Cheerful and patient with children, creating a welcoming and positive environment.
• Patient and approachable, with excellent customer service skills.
• Previous barista experience is highly desirable, with a strong understanding of coffee preparation techniques.
• Knowledge of food safety practices to ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Proficient in serving customers with a friendly and professional attitude.
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
• Strong time management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively in a busy environment.
• Experience in food preparation is an advantage, ensuring quality standards are upheld.

Job Type: Freelance

Pay: £12.21-£13.50 per hour
