The Plant Operator Trainer is responsible for training both Regular and Reservist soldiers who attend formal Plant Operator courses at RSME in the operation and maintenance of all in-service ‘C’ Vehicles or Engineer Construction Plant in accordance with relevant Training Objectives.

Role Requirements

  • Hold a NPORS qualification or equivalent on all equipment/subjects taught
  • Hold or be working towards a NPORS Tester qualification
  • Hold a Professional Teaching Certificate
  • Hold a CAT C, G & H driving licence
  • Complete the Defence Trainer Capability Course at Shrivenham

Specific Duties

  • To train both Regular and Reservist soldiers who attend formal Plant Operator courses at RSME in the operation and maintenance of all in-service ‘C’ Vehicles or Engineer Construction Plant in accordance with relevant Training Objectives
  • Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others whilst in the training environment
  • Deliver training offsite within UK or abroad when given reasonable notice
  • Maintain Continued Professional Development log and send to PQC monthly
  • Carry out any other reasonable task as deemed appropriate and commensurate to the grade

General Duties

  • Be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the course dossier (lesson plans, documents, tests)
  • Mark, assess and give constructive feedback on trainee assignments
  • Responsible for serviceability and maintenance of equipment used by trainees
  • Order equipment as required by the training programme: Receipt equipment from Babcock and/or the Service provider
  • Maintain the equipment and documents for duration of demand period
  • Maintain fault book and report faults immediately to BDS
  • Monitor and record rectification of faults
  • Return equipment back to Babcock and/or the Service provider
  • Submit reports on trainees and courses as detailed by Lead Trainer
  • Carry out any reasonable task given by Lead Trainer
  • Stand in for Lead Trainer as and when requested
  • Operate plant equipment during various demonstrations/visits when requested by Line Management
  • Make yourself familiar with and abide by company policies, such as the Health, Safety and Environmental, Equal Opportunities, Harassment, Disability and Data Protection policies

Management / Communication

  • To communicate honestly with your Line Manager
  • To be responsible for your own time and attendance at work
  • To achieve deadlines/targets that have been set by your Line Manager/Team Leader
  • To assist your Line Manager to implement change within the department
  • To communicate and liaise with all other departments, as required
  • To assist your Line Manager to work towards the Business Plan and Long-term/Strategic objectives

Reviews & Planning

  • To be available to be reviewed and appraised by your immediate Line Manager in a timely manner

Training & Evaluation

  • To ensure that you receive any agreed training that has been identified by yourself or your Line Manager subject to any constraints
  • To complete requests for training documentation and discuss this fully with your Line Manager in a timely manner in line with the Staff Training Procedure
  • In conjunction with your Line Manager evaluate the effectiveness of the training and development activities you have undertaken
  • To effectively utilise new skills from your training (Return on investment)

Responsibilities

  • To work within the Company’s Quality procedures within relevant departments
  • To assist in working towards and maintaining the IIP standard
  • To conform with the Health and Safety at Work Act, including all associated Regulations and environmental issues
  • To conform with actions necessary in cases of accident, fire or incidents
  • To keep your work area clean and safe
  • To undertake/perform other duties associated with this role, by agreement
  • To act as an ambassador for the Company
