Are you a passionate, qualified Functional Skills Tutor with experience in delivering Maths and English up to level 2? If so, we want to connect with you! TQ Education & Training (part of the Pearson Group) is a provider of outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations and private companies both in the UK and overseas. You will support Functional Skills delivery as part of the Army Apprenticeship contracts with the MoD; however, your role isn’t just limited to one contract; you’ll have the opportunity to work across various exciting TQ partnerships!
About the role
As a peripatetic Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering Maths and English Functional Skills qualifications at Levels 1 and 2 to Pearson TQ apprentices at Worthy Down and Marchwood as well as at other Pearson TQ or employer sites as required.
Your key responsibilities:
- Teach Maths and English Functional Skills qualifications at levels 1 and 2
- Motivate a caseload of learners to ensure they successfully complete their learning on time
- Provide engaging onsite teaching support
- Conduct Speaking and Listening assessments (including recording) and complete Awarding Body paperwork
- Create and complete an Individual Learning Plan and Learning Session Records for each learner
- Ensure the learner’s e-portfolio is updated with evidence of learning, achievement, feedback, communication attempts and show the learning plan
- Have available an up-to-date syllabus, schemes of work, lesson plans and learning materials aligned to individual learner needs
- Prepare and use suitable teaching and learning materials which consider differentiation and individual learning styles
- Undertake other specified duties including course/resource development, tutorial support and associated administrative tasks
- Provide relevant Functional Skills statistical data to the management team
- Maintain accurate records and follow appropriate Quality Assurance and Risk Management systems and protocols
- Join the team in staff and self-development training
About you
- Relevant teaching qualification e.g., PTLLS, CTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE or DTLLS
- A minimum level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics
- Experience of delivering Functional Skills English up to level 2
- Experience of providing face to face and remote support to learners using a range of delivery methods
- Ability to embrace and develop practical and innovative delivery models for Functional Skills
- Ability to adopt contextualised Functional Skills delivery techniques to engage learners
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic
- Full, current driving licence
- Car owner, with a willingness to use on Pearson TQ business as required (mileage allowance payable)
