Lead Specialist, Engagement Communications
This role aligns to industry-level titles such as Change Communications Specialist, Transformation Communications Manager, Engagement & Communications Lead.
Pearson is undergoing a significant business transformation, evolving how we deliver qualifications and support learners, educators, and institutions. This transformation includes major changes to IT systems and qualification delivery, requiring clear, consistent communication to ensure successful adoption across the organisation and its stakeholders.
Your Opportunity
As a Lead Specialist, Engagement Communications, you will support communication and engagement activities across a large-scale transformation programme.
You will work closely with change and communications leads to coordinate messaging, ensure alignment across workstreams, and support stakeholder understanding and engagement throughout the transformation lifecycle.
This role combines content development with stakeholder management, requiring a strong understanding of both internal business needs and external customer perspectives, including schools, colleges, and work‑based learning providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Communication Strategies Develop and execute programme‑wide and portfolio‑specific communication and engagement plans.
- Coordinate Messaging & Content Create and maintain communication assets including leadership messaging, presentations, and campaign materials.
- Manage Stakeholder Engagement Build and deliver cohesive engagement plans across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Support Change Adoption Contribute to change management initiatives, ensuring effective communication that drives awareness and adoption.
- Plan and Deliver Engagement Activities Coordinate town halls, workshops, briefings, and other engagement events.
- Ensure Consistency & Alignment Maintain clear, consistent messaging across programme workstreams and leadership communications.
- Monitor Effectiveness Track communication impact and stakeholder sentiment using qualitative and quantitative feedback to inform improvements.
Required Skills & Experience
Communication & Content Development
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing key messages, channel plans, campaign materials, leadership briefings, FAQs, and presentations.
Stakeholder Management
Proven ability to work with and influence stakeholders across different levels, including senior leadership, as well as external education partners.
Change & Transformation Communications
Experience supporting communication activities within transformation or change programmes in complex organisations.
Education Sector Awareness
Understanding of the education landscape, including schools, colleges, awarding organisations, or qualification delivery.
Planning & Organisation
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality outputs in a fast‑paced environment.
Digital Tools & Channels
Experience using tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, intranet platforms, and other communication channels.
Editorial Quality & Brand Consistency
High attention to detail, strong editorial judgement, and the ability to maintain consistent tone of voice and brand standards.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification or professional development in communications, marketing, public relations, change management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience in internal, change, or stakeholder communications within a complex environment
- Fluency in English
