Role Summary: We are looking for Consultant Development Managers to work on any of the following sectors at Levels 2 and 3:
- Applied Science
- Performing Arts
- Music/Music Production
In this role, you will lead the design and development of high‑quality vocational learning products, including qualifications, assessments, and teaching materials. You’ll combine subject matter expertise and creativity to deliver solutions that meet learner, customer, and stakeholder needs. You will be a subject matter expert trusted to independently lead complex content development projects – shaping products that are both engaging and compliant.

Responsibilities/Typical Tasks:
- Lead on the design and development of international qualifications, assessments, and learning content aligned to learner and market needs.
- Build a strong evidence base to inform product design decisions.
- Establish effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ensure delivery of content to time, budget, and quality standards.
- Lead end-to-end product development (design, approval, delivery).
- Brief and manage subject matter experts and writing teams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth implementation and lifecycle support.
- Monitor product quality, accuracy, and customer experience throughout the lifecycle.
- Identify improvements to enhance learner outcomes and customer satisfaction.
- Represent Pearson in stakeholder engagements.
Experience and Qualifications Required:

Essential:
- Current sector experience/applied subject knowledge with at least two years’ experience.
- Experience in education, qualifications, or assessment development.
- Experience designing or developing qualifications or learning products.
- Project management experience with delivery to time, budget and quality.
- Good communication skills; good standard of written English and ability to offer constructive feedback clearly and concisely.
- Confident use of IT, AI and word processing.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional/virtual teams.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing guidelines and attend training as required.
Desirable:
- Educated to a level 4 standard (HNC/1st year degree) or above with relevant qualifications for the particular sector/subject area, or substantial vocational experience (at least 3 years).
- Teaching experience.
- Budget management experience.
- Exposure to AI tools or prompt engineering.
Working Model:
- Fixed-term contract (4 to 6 months depending on qualification).
- Hybrid working depending on business needs.
- Collaboration across global and virtual teams.
