We are looking for an Advanced Specialist, Marketing (internally known as Advanced Specialist, Portfolio Management), to work in the Pearson School Qualification (International) business, to be responsible for positioning, messaging, and competitively differentiating Pearson products and services to achieve lead and revenue targets through a combination of retention and acquisition activities. This role aligns with industry level titles such as Product Marketing Manager, Marketing Manager, Go-to-Market Manager, and Campaign Manager.
Key accountabilities
- Portfolio management
- Develop annual portfolio go-to-market plans in line with the business strategy. Regularly review results and refine plans according to market conditions.
- Work with product management to understand and feed into the product development roadmap and keep sales and marketing colleagues informed through regular meetings.
- Consider the customer journey when planning activity and provide insights to the business. Articulate the customer value proposition through the development of product positioning, and messaging.
- Work with regional sales teams to identify new opportunities for up/cross sell opportunities, packaging/bundling and new commercial models.
- Develop go to market, launch plans for new products and ensure they align to the broader sales and marketing and brand strategy.
- Champion our products and customers across the business and continually seek to improve the customer experience.
- Track and analyse market trends and competitors to maintain competitive advantage in the positioning of our products within key markets.
- Utilise customer data to profile, segment and create targeted campaigns.
- Campaign management
- Plan and implement product campaign plans to get the right messages to the right target audience using a multi-channel approach (email, website, social media, events etc).
- Ensure campaigns are customer focused and present compelling solutions to customer problems.
- Generate leads for the sales team.
- Support the sales pipeline through the development of good quality sales enablement toolkits and training.
- Provide regular progress update for all campaigns, presenting results and sharing lessons learned and best practices.
- Operations
- Monthly reporting on progress against KPIs (key performance indicators), and if necessary, proposing solutions to ensure targets are met.
- Budget management and reporting.
- Plan and arrange product briefings and launch events, both virtual and face-to-face (in conjunction with regional colleagues).
Experience and skills
- Previous sales, portfolio, go-to-market or marketing experience.
- Experience in education is desirable.
- Strong communicator with excellent verbal and writing skills with an eye for detail.
- Experience developing and executing plans and projects.
- Strong email experience, including customer journey automation, ideally using SFMC.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines, adjust to changes in priorities, and balance short-term needs with long-term strategic initiatives.
- People management skills would be advantageous.
