In this role, you will lead the development of customer focused GCSE and A level English qualifications, assessments and support materials aligned to Pearson's subject strategy. You will collaborate across teams to deliver impactful, accredited products.
The Role
- Scope, design and lead the development of GCSE and A level English qualifications and sample assessments.
- Lead technical development ensuring delivery time, cost and quality standards.
- Conduct research to improve customer experience.
- Manage delivery of support materials and product surround.
- Build strong subject and market insights.
- Contribute to strategy, pilots and innovation.
- Lead and support developers where required.
What You’ll Own
- Lead the end to end technical development of academic qualifications, including scoping, drafting, reviewing, and securing accreditation.
- Own the design and development of sample assessments and ensure products align with strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain evidence of teacher, learner and stakeholder needs through research and engagement, shaping design decisions and guiding lifecycle priorities.
- Lead innovative activity, designing pilots, testing new qualification approaches and shaping Pearson's future qualification strategy.
- Manage writers and subject experts, ensuring content accuracy and timely delivery.
- Deliver specimen papers, free support materials and wider product surround throughout the lifecycle.
- Lead research to understand customer needs and competitor context, using insights to strengthen Pearson's market position.
- Represent Pearson with DfE and Ofqual in consultations, drafting and technical discussions.
- Where required, line manage developers and support capability growth.

- Strong secondary English subject and assessment expertise is essential.
- Experienced qualification development within a regulated environment.
