We are looking for an energetic and proactive Product Manager who has a passion for international education. You will be managing our International Primary, Lower Secondary, International GCSE and International A level qualifications for a specific group of subjects (Sciences, Computer Science, Psychology and ICT) through their lifecycle from inception, throughout their development and into the day-to-day provision of support for our qualifications. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders both internally at Pearson and with teachers, students, and experts within the wider international education community ensuring our approach aligns with overall business priorities.

Responsibilities of a Qualifications Product Manager include:

  • Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of customer needs and market dynamics to create compelling propositions which are aligned to business priorities to inform market-winning product development across the portfolio of subjects.
  • Scoping, designing and collaboratively developing qualifications that inspire teachers, engage learners, and enable progression to the next stage of their learning journey.
  • Providing a first-class customer experience through supporting training events, developing resources and additional services throughout the lifecycle of a qualification, and continually improving that experience.
  • Building expertise in the teaching, learning and assessment for your defined group of subjects through close and continuous liaison with a range of subject stakeholders across assessment, customer service, sales and marketing teams.
  • Supporting external facing teams with customer queries, and working alongside colleagues across the business to ensure timely feedback.
  • Contributing to subject strategy development and execution, with support and in partnership with the broader international school qualifications team.
  • Supporting the overall strategic aims for growth of our international academic qualifications alongside the Head of International Qualifications.

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage qualifications through their lifecycle, working in conjunction with a range of internal stakeholders to make well-timed decisions about withdrawal, extension, redevelopment, and new market entries in line with International strategic priorities.
  • Use market research to identify and implement innovations to improve our product proposition.
  • Track, analyse and respond to competitor activity.
  • Manage budgets for your qualifications and contribute to the forecasting process for your designated subjects as part of our annual planning cycle.
  • Develop and maintain insight into best practice (pedagogy, assessment) at both subject and suite level.
  • Work alongside the Product Developers in qualification developments through the writing, submission, and resubmission process (e.g. helping to source and brief writers, reviewing materials, ongoing content research and development, creation of free support).
  • Plan, commission and/or deliver customer-facing events and meetings to support qualification delivery in collaboration with the Professional Development Manager.

Our Successful Candidate:

We are interested in applicants with experience working within the education sector, ideally within international education, along with an understanding of education assessment, practice and policy. Having experience of working in a fast-paced environment including effective prioritisation and time management would be very useful in this role. Experience or expertise with Science subjects is strongly preferred.

It would be an advantage to have experience in the design and development of qualifications, products, or curricula. Ideally, you will have project management experience with a demonstrable track record of delivering high quality products to time, cost and quality requirements. Experience of presenting to teachers, academics and other stakeholder groups would be an advantage, as would experience of living or working outside of the UK.

Role location: This is a hybrid role and will require the successful candidate to work from either the Oxford or London offices on a regular basis (1-2 days per week). The role may also require some international travel.

Your rewards & benefits: We know you will do great work, so we give a lot back with some of the best benefits in the business. We know one size doesn’t fit all, so our workplace programs meet the different needs of our diverse teams, and their families, too.
