TQ Education & Training (part of the Pearson Group) is a provider of outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations, and private companies both in the UK and overseas. You will support Functional Skills delivery as part of the Royal Logistic Corps Army Apprenticeship contract with the MoD. Your role isn’t limited to one contract; you’ll have the opportunity to work across various exciting TQ partnerships!
About the role
As a Peripatetic Functional Skills Tutor, you will deliver English and Mathematics Functional Skills qualifications at Levels 1 and 2 across multiple sites, including Learning Resource Centres in Aldershot, Abingdon, Bicester, Colchester, Hullavington, Marchwood, and Tidworth, as well as other Pearson TQ or employer sites. You may also deliver online courses to support remote learners.
Your key responsibilities
- Teach English and Mathematics Functional Skills qualifications at levels 1 and 2.
- Motivate learners to successfully complete their courses on time.
- Provide engaging onsite and remote teaching support.
- Conduct Speaking and Listening assessments, record results, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Complete Tutor Rationale, Programme Plans, and Learning Session Records for each learner.
- Ensure the learner’s e-portfolio is updated with evidence of learning, achievement, feedback, and learning plans.
- Prepare and use suitable teaching materials considering differentiation and individual learning styles.
- Undertake course/resource development, tutorial support, and administrative tasks.
- Provide relevant statistical data to management.
- Maintain accurate records following Quality Assurance protocols.
- Participate in staff and self-development training.
About you
- Relevant teaching qualification (PTLLS, CTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE, or DTLLS).
- Minimum level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills up to level 2.
- Experience supporting learners face-to-face and remotely.
- Ability to develop innovative delivery models and engage learners effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic.
- Car owner willing to use Pearson TQ business travel (mileage allowance payable).
