About Us:
TQ Education & Training, part of the Pearson Group, provides outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations, and private companies in the UK and overseas. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will support the Army Royal Logistic Corps and Royal Engineer Apprenticeship contracts with the MoD and have the opportunity to work across various exciting TQ partnerships!
About the Role:
As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will play a crucial role in delivering English and Maths Functional Skills qualifications at Levels 1 and 2 to Royal Logistic Corps and Royal Engineer apprentices and other Pearson TQ apprentices. Your main base will be 6 Regt RLC in Dishforth, but travel to various Pearson and employer sites may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach English and Maths Functional Skills qualifications at Levels 1 and 2, including conducting initial assessments, diagnostic assessments and administering exams.
Manage Functional Skills caseload to ensure learners complete in a timely manner, including organising course bookings and issuing Joining Instructions.
Update learners\β e-portfolios with evidence of learning, achievement, feedback, and learning plans.
Complete Speaking and Listening assessments at Levels 1 and 2, including recording and paperwork for the Awarding Body.
Provide face-to-face learning support and motivate learners in their studies and remote support when required.
Complete Tutor Rationale and Programme Plans with each learner to outline the level of Functional Skills to be completed, course topics to be studied and achievement dates.
Complete Learning Session Records with each learner to document progress made and the learner journey.
Undertake course/resource development, learner induction, tutorial support, and associated administrative tasks.
Have available an up-to-date syllabus, schemes of work and lesson plans (showing methods of delivery) for each course/class taught.
Prepare and use suitable teaching materials, considering differentiation and individual learning styles.
Use a range of appropriate delivery methodologies.
Maintain accurate records as required for attendance, examinations, all assessed work and report on learner progress when required.
Provide Functional Skills statistical data to management.
Follow Quality Assurance Systems, Risk Management systems, and comply with policies and procedures (, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities).
Undertake appropriate staff development activities that support personal development, ensuring your own teaching practice conforms with standards and maintain an accurate record of these activities.
What Weβre Looking For:
Relevant teaching qualification (, Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS, CTLLS or PTLLS).
Minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
Experience delivering Functional Skills (English and Maths) at levels 1 and 2.
Experience providing face-to-face and remote support to learners using various delivery methods, including technology (, Zoom).
Ability to develop practical and innovative delivery models for Functional Skills.
Ability to adopt contextualised Functional Skills delivery techniques to engage learners.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic.
Full, current driving licence and car owner, with a willingness to use on Pearson TQ business as required (mileage allowance payable).
