Overview of the Principal Moderator role:
The Principal Moderator is responsible for ensuring that the standards of the internally assessed – externally moderated component are maintained and are consistent with the unit specification and assessment criteria. The Principal Moderator is responsible for the setting of coursework tasks/set assignments and the standardising of moderators.
*Main responsibilities: *
Writing the Pearson Set Assignment, attend the Question Paper Evaluation Committee meeting (QPEC) and produce a final draft.
Compile exemplar work, annotated to show how the assessment criteria are to be applied both for standardisation tasks, and published documents
To ensure, through standardisation and monitoring, that all moderators (including Assistant Principal Moderators and Team Leaders) meet the standardisation requirements and apply the assessment criteria ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout.
Be involved in the awarding process and advise members on how the Pearson Set Assignment functioned and recommend preliminary mark ranges for the judgemental grade boundaries.
This Construction and practice component covers:
o Carpentry & Joinery
o Brickwork
o The successful candidate should have some experience in both fields, though emphasis will be placed on Carpentry & Joinery, as this represents the bulk of registrations.
o The successful candidate should be able to present construction related drawings using a CAD or equivalent drafting package.
Requirement:
o Some weekends
o Some meetings are fixed/do not have flexibility to be reorganised.
Restrictions
Applicants must have a teaching qualification and a minimum of one full academic year of teaching experience in the relevant subject area/sector within the last 8 years.
We require two references in support of any application.
