FUNCTIONAL SKILLS and BTEC TUTOR

Location: Army Foundation College, Harrogate

The Army Foundation College sits on the outskirts of the Victorian Spa town of Harrogate. A purpose-built site for phase one recruits (Junior Soldiers) joining the Army.

The college is an elite establishment producing excellent results throughout many aspects of its training, including Sport, Education and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Many visitors flood through our gates; from members of the royal family to footballing royalty to the very highest echelons of the Military hierarchy.

Contract: Limited term time only. (Please note AFC terms do not always match with LEA term dates)

PURPOSE: To teach BTEC or Functional Skills L1 and L2 to 16 and 17 year old Junior Soldiers. You will teach and manage up to 8 classes. Provide cover where necessary for colleagues and invigilate examinations when required.

DESCRIPTION : TQ Education & Training is a provider of outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations and private companies, both in the UK and overseas.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified teacher status or a willingness to work towards

  • L3 Qualification in the subject you will teach

Desirable

  • Functional Skills Level 2 in English/Maths and/or ICT

  • Experience of working with the Military (or other uniformed services)

  • Delivering Functional Skills to soldiers

  • Knowledge or an understanding of current educational developments
