We are looking for a QA Technician to join our clients’ well-established, yet growing, organisation based in Medway. If you have previous experience within the food industry working in a quality control or similar position or are educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant field, then this could be the role for you!
As a QA Technician, duties include:
- Conduct daily GMP audits across warehouse, factory exterior, and office areas.
- Inspect packing lines to ensure products meet approved specifications.
- Monitor production equipment, including weight checkers and metal detectors, ensuring correct operation and calibration.
- Carry out traceability tests as required.
- Retain and assess daily production samples for quality and defects.
- Test raw materials and packaging to verify compliance with quality standards and support supplier reviews.
- Perform in-process quality checks (e.g. metal detection, weight verification, seal integrity, barcode and date coding checks, film alignment, glue application, case content and coding).
- Take prompt corrective action where deviations occur and accurately record all quality checks.
- Complete all quality and production documentation accurately and on time.
- Carry out end-of-batch procedures, ensuring correct reconciliation of finished goods, packaging, and raw materials.
- Support production in meeting deadlines while minimising waste.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation within the work area.
- Assist with training colleagues once fully competent.
- Support non-conformance investigations and corrective actions.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
The successful candidate for this QA Technician position will have / be:
- Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate and a working knowledge of HACCP principles (desirable).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Competent in basic IT systems and data entry.
- Flexible and willing to work varying shift patterns, including covering absence, holidays, and overtime when required.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
