An established manufacturing business is seeking a Production Operative to join its Final Processing Department on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on position within a regulated engineering environment, focused on surface preparation and inspection of precision castings. Full training will be provided, including the opportunity to achieve an internationally recognised qualification.
This opportunity would suit someone with manufacturing or engineering experience who takes pride in quality, works methodically, and is comfortable following structured processes and technical specifications.
The role:
- Preparing castings through a controlled chemical process to ensure components are ready for inspection.
- Processing castings using dye inspection techniques to identify surface defects and confirm compliance with customer specifications.
- Working to strict standards, processing parts through chemical tanks, controlled rinsing and drying cycles, developer application, and detailed inspection against technical drawings and requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing components through chemical tanks within specified time controls.
- Carrying out dye inspection to detect defects and surface cracks.
- Recording and updating production data accurately using PC-based systems.
- Interpreting specifications and drawings to ensure compliance.
- Preparing finished products for packing and despatch.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working area.
- Supporting other departments where required.
- Adhering strictly to company health and safety procedures.
Working hours: Monday to Friday days shifts (39 hours weekly)
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or production environment.
- Previous inspection or quality-related experience advantageous.
- Comfortable using hand tools and workshop equipment.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Confident using PC-based systems for data entry and production logging.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Experience within fabrication, metalworking or manufacturing environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
