An established precision manufacturing organisation is seeking a Final Inspection Operative to join its Inspection / Dispatch department on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on role within a specialist foundry environment, focused on final inspection, fettling, finishing and preparation of precision-engineered castings prior to despatch. Full training will be provided to develop the specialist skills required.
Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will play a key role in ensuring products meet strict quality standards and customer specifications before leaving site.
The role:
This position centres on the final inspection and finishing stages. You will be responsible for verifying product quality, completing finishing tasks, and ensuring accurate documentation and safe despatch.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough final inspections to meet specification and quality standards
- Fettling and finishing castings using appropriate hand tools and workshop equipment
- Identifying defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from drawings and visual standards
- Recording and booking work accurately using PC-based systems
- Preparing products for packing and despatch, including labelling and safe handling
- Following written and verbal instructions
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work area
- Supporting other departments where required
This is a practical, quality-focused role requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to work to production deadlines within a foundry environment.
Working hours: Monday to Friday Day shifts (39 hours weekly)
What we’re looking for:
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or production environment
- Previous inspection or quality-related experience advantageous
- Competence using hand tools for fettling and finishing tasks
- Comfortable working with industrial materials in a workshop or foundry setting
- Confident using PC-based systems for data entry and production logging
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work to specification
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
