An established engineering business operating within the HVAC and building services sector is expanding its service and refurbishment function and is now looking to appoint a Technical Estimator to support a sustained increase in workload. This is a key technical role within a stable, well-established team, offering long-term development and progression for the right individual.
The role involves working closely with the applications and contracts teams, focusing on the technical and estimating side of service and refurbishment projects, ensuring accurate pricing, technical feasibility and smooth handover for delivery.
Responsibilities will include:
- Estimating and pricing service, refurbishment and upgrade contracts
- Reviewing technical enquiries, specifications and drawings
- Producing accurate costings and quotations for service and upgrade works
- Using CAD-based and selection software to configure technical solutions
- Preparing technical documentation to support quotations
- Liaising with internal teams to clarify scope and technical requirements
- Acting as a technical point of contact for client queries
- Supporting handover into contracts once work is approved
This is an office-based, technical position – site work and business development sit elsewhere in the business.
Background & experience:
This role would suit someone with a technical HVAC or building services background, such as:
- An HVAC or air handling service engineer looking to move into an office-based role
- Experience in a related role within ventilation, air handling, HVAC manufacturing or FM
- A technical estimator from a related building services environment
You will ideally:
- Have a practical understanding of HVAC / air handling systems
- Be comfortable interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Have experience using CAD or similar technical software
- Be confident communicating technical information clearly
- Thrive in a busy, structured office environment
Formal qualifications are not essential – hands-on experience and technical capability are the priority.
