EPD Engineer – Mechanical Design Kent Circa GBP40,000 (flexible)

Are you a problem–solver with a passion for engineering design? Do you thrive on improving products, fixing challenges, and making sure designs work in the real world?

We\’re looking for an EPD Engineer to join a growing product development team within a well–established manufacturer of specialist engineered products. Working closely with colleagues across Design, Production, Quality, and Supply, you\\\’ll play a key role in keeping products performing at their best while driving improvements for the future.

What you\\\’ll be doing:

  • Owning sustaining engineering across a range of products, tackling factory and field issues and delivering permanent fixes
  • Using SolidWorks to update and improve drawings, specs, BOMs and routings
  • Leading change control (ECR/ECN) and maintaining accurate product data in PDM/ERP systems
  • Partnering with Production to improve build processes and ensure right–first–time manufacturing
  • Delivering value engineering – finding smarter, safer and more cost–effective design solutions
  • Building quick prototypes, testing updates, and handing over robust designs into production
  • Collaborating with Quality teams to close out NCRs/CAPAs and prevent reoccurrence

About you:

  • At least 3 years\\\’ experience in an engineering design role – this is not a graduate role
  • Strong SolidWorks user with proven CAD skills (3D & 2D, BS8888 standards)
  • Background in mechanical assemblies, ideally with exposure to plastics, extrusion, machining or electronics
  • Hands–on approach – comfortable with prototypes, fixtures and testing
  • Confident communicator who enjoys working cross–functionally and under time pressure
  • Relevant qualification (BEng/BSc or equivalent)

The benefits:

  • Salary circa GBP40,000 (flexible depending on experience)
  • Flexible working hours – e.g. 7–4 or standard 8–5
  • Hybrid working (up to 2 days per week remote)
