We re recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a forward–thinking business that has grown significantly in recent years and continues to expand its engineering function. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technically challenging design work and taking real ownership.
WHAT YOU LL BE DOING
- Designing new products and developing improvements to existing ones
- Creating detailed 3D CAD models, drawings and assemblies
- Supporting concept development, stress considerations and material selection
- Working closely with other engineering disciplines to support integrated designs
- Producing documentation including specifications, assembly instructions and test approaches
- Assisting with prototype builds, evaluations and practical test work
- Managing your own workload to meet project timelines
WHAT WE RE LOOKING FOR
Education & background
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Solid experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role after graduation
Technical skills
- Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
- Strong understanding of tolerances, mechanisms and precision components
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods such as machining, casting or moulding
- Experience in FEA, thermal or vibration analysis is beneficial
Attributes
- Creative problem solver with strong attention to detail
- Able to take initiative and communicate well within a team
- Happy working hands‑on with prototypes and practical testing
