Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

(Mechanical Bias with Electrical Experience)

Headcorn, Kent

£40,000 – £50,000 DOEMonday – Friday | 08:00 – 16:30 | Full-Time, Permanent

The Opportunity:

We're recruiting on behalf of a successful and well-established manufacturing business based near Headcorn, Kent. They’re seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with electrical experience to join their onsite growing engineering team.

This is a varied and hands-on role focusing on planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance of plant machinery. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring safe, efficient operations with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical PPM and reactive maintenance on plant and machinery
  • Identify faults and complete timely repairs across mechanical and basic electrical systems
  • Work with pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Support site operations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and adhere to health & safety standards
  • Participate in an on-call rota for breakdowns outside core hours

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally with electrical maintenance experience
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Good knowledge of motors, pumps, gearboxes, and control systems
  • Ability to fault-find across both mechanical and basic electrical systems
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a team-focused attitude
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)
  • Comfortable working in accordance with safety regulations and procedures

What’s On Offer:

  • £40,000 – £50,000 per annum depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30 working hours 40 hours per week.
