A growing aerospace manufacturer is looking to strengthen its engineering team with an experienced Methods Engineer who can take ownership of complex sand-cast components from concept through to production. This site plays a key role in supplying major aerospace programmes and needs someone confident, analytical and hands-on who can support both new product launches and ongoing production improvement. Because the team is lean and highly skilled, they need someone experienced enough to contribute immediately.

What you’ll be doing

  • This role covers the full lifecycle of cast components, including method design, analysis, validation and process improvement. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing and developing manufacturing methods for new and existing castings.
  • Using simulation software (MagmaSoft preferred, but similar tools welcome) to model casting behaviour and propose optimised solutions.
  • Working with 2D drawings and 3D models to create clear, accurate method layouts.
  • Using metrology tools, scanning and digital assemblies to confirm dimensional accuracy.
  • Investigating defects and process issues, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
  • Working to reduce scrap, improve yield and increase consistency across production.
  • Supporting new product introduction, ensuring the right tooling, techniques and controls are in place early on.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement activity and helping introduce new technologies or processes.
  • Working closely with engineering, production, quality and suppliers to keep projects moving efficiently.

What we’re looking for

The ideal person will be comfortable taking responsibility quickly and working alongside a very experienced senior engineer. You will need:

  • Essential
  • Significant experience (around five years or more) working in a methods/foundry engineering role within a sand-casting environment.
  • Strong CAD capability, ideally with SolidWorks, including both 2D and 3D work.
  • A solid engineering foundation built on a relevant degree (Mechanical, Materials, Foundry Technology or similar).
  • Confidence interpreting engineering drawings and assessing tooling or process requirements.
  • Strong analytical ability and a track record of solving manufacturing issues.
  • Experience supporting new product launch or development programmes.
  • The ability to pick things up quickly — the team does not have capacity to train from scratch.
  • Desirable
  • Experience with MagmaSoft, EasyCast, ProCast or other casting simulation platforms.
  • Knowledge of metrology, 3D scanning or virtual assembly.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, process improvement or Six Sigma.

Other important points

  • This role is 100% onsite – no hybrid/remote working.
  • Stable employment history is preferred, although contractors seeking a permanent move will be considered if they demonstrate commitment.
  • No sponsorship can be offered – you must be eligible for SC clearance.

Why this role stands out

  • You’ll join a respected site supplying high-performance aerospace components.
  • The team is small, supportive and technically strong – you will work closely with seasoned experts.
  • There is genuine investment in people, processes and equipment.
  • Career pathways exist both within the site and across the wider global group.
  • You’ll have the chance to influence methods from day one and see your work directly impact quality and performance.

If you’re an experienced Methods Engineer who enjoys problem-solving, ownership and working on complex castings, we’d love to speak with you.
