Cargo Coordinator\\n\\nPortsmouth\\n\\n£32-£35k DOE \\n\\n8am – 5pm \\n\\nI am currently seeking a Cargo Coordinator to join a busy logistics and operations team at a leading shipping organisation in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in freight, shipping, warehousing, or transport who thrives in a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.\\n\\nYou will play a key role in managing the smooth flow of general cargo through the terminal, coordinating between customers, warehouse teams, and transport providers to ensure shipments are handled efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with customs and safety procedures.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\nCoordinate the movement of general cargo arriving and leaving the terminal, liaising with transport companies and customers.\\n\\t\\nMaintain accurate data within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and customer operating systems.\\n\\t\\nAct as the main point of contact for general cargo clients, ensuring excellent communication and service at all times.\\n\\t\\nProcess and reconcile cargo documentation, including tip cards, labels, and customs paperwork.\\n\\t\\nSupport warehouse operations, including planning import and export loads, stock reconciliation, and maximising space utilisation.\\n\\t\\nMonitor and maintain compliance with customs procedures and dangerous goods regulations.\\n\\t\\nCollaborate with internal teams (warehouse, planning, and transport) to ensure seamless coordination across operations.\\n\\t\\nContribute to continuous improvement in safety, accuracy, and efficiency within the cargo operation.\\n\\nAbout You\\n\\nTo succeed in this role, you should be organised, proactive, and able to handle multiple priorities in a busy logistics environment.\\n\\nEssential experience and skills\\n\\nPrevious experience in shipping, logistics, warehousing, or transport coordination.\\n\\t\\nStrong understanding of import/export and customs clearance processes.\\n\\t\\nGood working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and warehouse or terminal systems (WMS/TOS).\\n\\t\\nConfident communicator with excellent customer service and administrative skills.\\n\\t\\nProven ability to work independently while maintaining strong teamwork and collaboration.\\n\\t\\nKeen attention to detail with strong problem-solving and organisational abilities.\\n\\nDesirable\\n\\nForklift licence (or willingness to train).\\n\\t\\nFull UK driving licence.\\n\\nWhat’s in It for You\\n\\nCompetitive salary and benefits package.\\n\\t\\nA dynamic role within a well-established port operation.\\n\\t\\nOpportunities for professional development and training.\\n\\t\\nA collaborative, safety-focused environment where your contributions make a visible impact.\\n\\nHow to Apply\\n\\nIf you are a motivated logistics professional who takes pride in ensuring operations run smoothly and customers are well supported, we would love to hear from you.\\n\\nApply today with your CV or reach out for a confidential discussion about the role.\\n\\nThis role is being handled by Sam Hasler, Transport, Logistics & Distribution Specialist at Pearson Whiffin Recruitment\\n\\nNot quite the right role but still looking?\\n\\nWhether you are entry or Executive level, our team of experienced Recruitment specialists can help you with your career.
