Job Description
Sales Director
A leading, private equity-backed energy brokerage and advisory firm with over 5,000 UK clients is entering a major phase of growth through both acquisition and organic expansion. The business specialises in helping mid-to-large organisations control energy costs and improve efficiency through services such as procurement, invoice validation, energy monitoring, audits, solar solutions, and voltage optimisation.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a driven, hands-on Sales Director to lead, build, and scale the direct sales division. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will own all aspects of direct sales performance – covering new business, renewals, and cross-sell. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the company’s growth strategy and integrating future acquisitions.
This position is ideal for an ambitious commercial leader with the energy, vision, and resilience to deliver rapid results in a high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing direct sales team with a strong “lead from the front” approach.
- Design and execute a scalable acquisition strategy combining inbound, outbound, and referral-led sales activity.
- Define and refine target markets, ideal customer profiles, and sector priorities (e.g. industrial, leisure, education, healthcare).
- Establish and manage KPIs, commission plans, and incentive structures to drive performance and accountability.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership (CEO, CRO, CFO) to align sales and revenue goals.
- Drive cross-sell initiatives across complementary service lines to increase client value and retention.
- Oversee sales reporting, CRM integrity, and process optimisation.
- Support integration and performance alignment across acquired businesses.
What Success Looks Like
- Delivery of quarterly and annual sales targets (Total Contracted Value, revenue, profit).
- Increased client retention and growth through renewals and cross-sell.
- A high-performance, scalable direct sales function embedded across the group.
- Strong team overperformance against KPIs and budget.
Your Profile
- Proven experience leading and scaling high-performing B2B sales teams within the energy, utilities, or related service sectors.
- Strong commercial and analytical mindset with a focus on execution and results.
- Confident, hands-on leader with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Track record of success in fast-growing or M&A environments.
Package
- Basic Salary: £120,000 – £140,000
- Car allowance: £8,000 PA
- Bonus: Significant performance-based bonus linked to new business, renewals, and team overachievement
- Equity: Offered upon scaling of the direct sales function
Take the lead in building a best-in-class sales operation and play a pivotal role in the growth of one of the UK’s fastest-expanding energy firms.
