We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) Platform Engineer to take ownership of a large-scale ODA estate spanning X7, X8, X10, and X11 HA platforms across both primary and disaster recovery sites. This is a highly specialised infrastructure role focused entirely on the software, virtualisation, operational, and lifecycle management of the ODA platform estate. All physical hardware activities are handled by the data centre team, making this a fully remote, hands-off engineering position.

The Role

You will be responsible for the end-to-end operational management and optimisation of the ODA environment, ensuring stability, resilience, performance, and lifecycle compliance across multiple HA clusters and DR platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deployment and provisioning using odacli
  • Administration of ODA KVM hypervisor environments
  • VM creation, lifecycle management, and optimisation
  • Internal networking and virtual network configuration
  • Disaster Recovery configuration and management
  • ODA patching, upgrades, and firmware coordination
  • Performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity management
  • Platform health checks, troubleshooting, and operational support
  • Management of Oracle Linux and ODA stack components
  • Working with Oracle Support on complex platform issues
  • Documentation, standards, and operational runbooks
  • Supporting platform automation and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) platforms
  • Proven experience across multiple ODA generations, ideally including: X7, X8, X10, X11 HA
  • Deep knowledge of: odacli, ODA virtualisation and KVM, Oracle Linux, ODA networking architecture, Patch and upgrade procedures
  • Experience managing HA and DR ODA environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning capability
  • Experience working in enterprise production environments
  • Ability to operate independently and take technical ownership of the platform estate
