Overview:

An excellent opportunity has arisen with my client, a market leading title insurance provider . They have an impressive track record spanning over 3 decades and stand out as a top choice for Legal Indemnity Insurance coverage for residential and commercial properties and development risks. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Indemnities Underwriter to join a friendly and collaborative team as they continue to grow.

Duties include:

  • Providing a professional and compliant legal indemnity underwriting service to all clients, current and prospective, including but not limited to: Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers, and Brokers, with the intention of providing quotations and ultimately, policies to meet internal income and profit targets.
  • Underwriting all residential, commercial and development risks, with a focus on: Providing a quality service that is fast, accurate, effective, transparent and professional, maximising business placement and identifying, establishing and building business relationships or opportunities.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of risks to ensure they are appropriate for the business, by assessing: whether the risk is acceptable within the parameters and guidelines agreed with the insurer and the level of premium for which to accept the risk on behalf of the Insurer to generate income and profit to the company
  • Ensure the acceptability of a risk is always considered in line with company guidelines, procedures and processes.
  • Determine correct pricing based on financial and competition analysis, and in line with compliance requirements, providing appropriate and justifiable quotations for risks.
  • Act strictly within the personal authority issued by the Insurer from time to time.
  • Keep up to date with legal and regulatory changes, or any such changes that might affect this role.
  • Keep the necessary stakeholders advised of progress on underwriting of risks as necessary to provide excellent customer service
  • Liaise with clients (solicitors/brokers/licensed conveyancers) by email, phone and in-person, responding to requests and queries as a matter of priority, with the aim of progressing risks to quotation.

The successful candidate will have/be:

  • 2+ years Legal Indemnities Underwriting experience across residential, commercial and development risks
  • Good ability to hit the ground running and work under limited supervision
  • Strong ability to build and develop client relationships
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills with an attention to detail and accuracy
  • Possess the ability to analyse complex information and draw out the relevant facts
  • Good interpersonal skills, flexible to work with a range of styles and personalities according to business demands
