Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of major civil engineering schemes with a well-established regional contractor that genuinely invests in its people?

Our client is one of the South East's leading privately-owned civil engineering and construction businesses, delivering infrastructure, highways, groundworks, earthworks and complex civil engineering projects for both public and private sector clients. With an annual turnover in excess of £250 million, they have built an enviable reputation for delivering high-quality projects safely, collaboratively and profitably, while offering outstanding career development opportunities.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to commercially lead a major £30 million data centre infrastructure project in Didcot.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial delivery of a significant civils package from procurement through to final account. This is a hybrid position, typically working:

  • 1–2 days per week from the Kent head office
  • 3–4 days per week on site in Didcot

Typical Responsibilities

  • Full commercial management of a £30m civil engineering package
  • Administration of both JCT and NEC contracts
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors
  • Preparation and agreement of subcontractor accounts
  • Monthly valuations and cost reporting
  • Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Management of change control and compensation events
  • Assessment and agreement of variations
  • Commercial risk management
  • Preparation and negotiation of final accounts
  • Working closely with operational teams to maximise project profitability

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with Quantity Surveyors who have:

  • Previous experience as a Senior or experienced Project Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Experience managing drainage, ducting and infrastructure packages valued at £10m+
  • Excellent subcontract procurement and commercial management experience
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • The ability to manage multiple commercial priorities while maintaining attention to detail

This role would particularly suit candidates based in:

  • Surrey
  • Berkshire

who are happy travelling to both the Kent office and the Didcot project.
