Job Description

A GCE Physics (New Specification) Examiner marks candidates' responses in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme, whilst adhering to conditions of recognition and examination procedures. The experience of examining will offer an insight into the assessment process and can often consequently enhance the quality of your teaching Most subjects will be marked onscreen using ePEN, which can be done from home. A few subjects are still marked in the traditional method, using paper scripts sent through the post.

A good level of subject knowledge at A Level is necessary to apply the mark scheme effectively. Each examiner will receive an agreed allocation of scripts.\\n\\nResponsibilities\\nTo mark accurately and consistently to ensure overall standards are maintained\\n\\nTo submit samples to your Team Leader at designated times\\n\\nTo ensure milestones for marking are adhered to\\n\\nTo ensure all administration is completed as specified\\n\\nExperience/qualifications needed\\n\\nYou will have at least one academic year's worth of teaching experience:\\n\\na. within the last 8 years\\n\\n b.

at the required knowledge equivalent to A Level\\n\\n c. since qualifying as a teacher\\nYou will have a degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related subject\\n\\nIf your degree is in a different subject, you must have at least 3 years of experience teaching A Level Physics. \\nYou will be a qualified teacher\\n\\nOR\\n\\nYou have at least one academic year's worth of teaching experience\\n\\nYou are a retired teacher with extensive experience and valuable expertise\\n\\nYou have a degree (or equivalent)\\n\\nYou are a qualified teacher\\n\\nExperience desirable\\nYou will have experience teaching/assessing practical work ( 9PH0_03) \\n\\nCompetencies required\\n\\nYou will have the ability to work well under pressure\\n\\nYou will have the ability to meet deadlines\\n\\nYou will have a high level of subject knowledge in order to apply the mark scheme\\n\\nAdditional information\\n\\nThe marking period is between May – July.\\n\\nThe training required to mark as an examiner will take place between May and June.\\n\\nAbout Pearson\\n\\nWe value the power of inclusive culture and embed diversity and inclusion in everything we do.
