Job Description

Product Manager / Senior Product Manager: MFL

The Modern Foreign Languages team produces resources for Secondary-age students and their teachers across a number of languages, but predominantly French, Spanish and German. Responsible for market-leading courses such as Dynamo, Studio, Viva, Stimmt, Expo, Metro and Mira, this is an opportunity to join the industry’s most successful languages team.

About the role

You will be part of a friendly and high-performing team, working closely with and supported by other MFL Product Managers and team members, to understand customer and learner needs and create great resources for our Modern Languages portfolio.

You will carry out research with teachers and students, creating proposals for new products and services that meet the needs of MFL teachers and learners. You’ll work with a mix of internal and external people from different teams to bring those proposals to reality and ensure our products and services are launched on time, to budget and to the highest levels of quality.

A day in the life of

  1. Recruiting, briefing and managing authors to commission and quality assure high quality MFL content that really works in the classroom.
  2. Ensuring the delivery of that content meets expected quality standards and deadlines.
  3. Working with wider internal and external teams – particularly other MFL Product Managers and Editors – to ensure the project as a whole is on track.
  4. Managing budgets for your projects, ensuring tight cost control.
  5. Carrying out market research with teachers and students to understand customer needs and test out content ahead of publication.
  6. Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the field of Modern Languages.
  7. Liaising closely with our Sales and Marketing teams to support campaigns and monitor the effectiveness of those campaigns.

We are looking for people who display a range of these strengths and behaviours:

  1. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) and fluent in Spanish and ideally receptive knowledge of French and/or German.
  2. Experience of creating and commissioning resources for language learners.
  3. Enjoys working with a close team to develop exciting new resources but equally willing to take responsibility and lead in their area of responsibility.
  4. Focused and organised while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.

Role location

This is a hybrid working role across home and Oxford or London office locations.
