Job title: Director, Business Support and Portfolio Management Office
Role Overview:
The Director of Business Support and Portfolio Management Office (PMO) is a critical leadership role within the Content Strategy & Digital Delivery team, combining leadership of the Business Support and PMO functions with strategic coordination and operational support for the Vice President of Content Strategy & Digital Delivery.
In this role, you will act as a strategic partner to the VP, focusing on high-priority initiatives, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness. You will facilitate leadership routines, prepare key communications, align leadership teams, and ensure follow-through on strategic initiatives.
You will lead a team of Program Managers responsible for portfolio planning, prioritization, and delivery tracking, ensuring portfolio health, governance, and capacity management, supporting broader digital transformation goals.
Your responsibilities include guiding projects from inception to delivery, emphasizing quality, efficiency, innovation, and customer experience, ensuring outcomes meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Support:
- Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the VP, aligning priorities with business needs.
- Facilitate leadership routines, including meetings, action tracking, and communication.
- Coordinate strategic priorities and business processes across teams.
- Prepare executive communications, reports, and operational reviews.
- Manage leadership operating cadence to foster accountability and transparency.
- Identify and resolve risks and challenges proactively.
- Support change management activities within the team.
Program Management Office Leadership:
- Define vision and strategy for program management aligned with business goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Program Managers, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Oversee content development projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
- Monitor program health and manage escalations.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Improve program management processes and tools.
- Partner with Operations to refine workflows and governance models.
- Manage budgets, resources, and capacity planning.
Business Support Operations:
- Oversee operational functions like content processes, contracts, and internal systems.
- Ensure operational excellence to enable scalable content delivery.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Bachelor\βs degree in Business, Project Management, or related field; PMP or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years in program management, operations, or Chief of Staff roles, preferably in digital content/delivery environments.
- Ability to partner with senior leaders and influence effectively.
- Experience scaling program management in complex organizations.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for executives.
