SQL Server Database Developer

Pearson Carter are currently working with a well-established logistics and transport organisation that is continuing to invest heavily in its internal technology function and is looking to strengthen its IT Development team through the appointment of an experienced SQL Server Database Developer.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative development environment where you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting business-critical SQL Server database solutions.

The role offers the chance to work on large-scale on-premise systems while contributing to performance improvements, application development, and ongoing technology initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views, functions, and other database objects supporting business-critical applications.
  • Design relational database structures, troubleshoot production issues, and optimise database performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Work closely with developers and stakeholders to deliver technical solutions, support database deployments, and contribute to system upgrades and continuous improvements.
  • Produce technical documentation while promoting development standards and best practices across the team.

Experience

  • Strong commercial experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, and relational database design within production environments.
  • Proven experience writing, troubleshooting, and optimising complex queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and database performance.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications, resolving database and data quality issues, and collaborating with software development teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage priorities independently.

Desirable

  • Experience with SQL Server Always On or other high-availability environments.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server administration, Azure Dev Ops, source control, CI/CD, and database deployment practices.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transactional databases or working within logistics, transport, or warehousing environments.
  • Salary

Salary is dependent on experience and is up to £55,000.

Location

This role offers a hybrid working model based in Dartford.
