QA Engineer

Pearson Carter are currently working with a growing organisation that is investing heavily in its in-house technology team. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to appoint a QA Engineer to join their team, with a primary focus on application testing and quality assurance.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within software quality assurance. You'll initially focus on manual testing, defect identification and quality processes before gradually taking on development responsibilities, including fixing bugs, writing unit tests and contributing to automated testing.

Responsibilities

  • ExecuteExecute manual testing across web, desktop and API-based applications.
  • Identify, reproduce, document and track defects, providing clear information to developers.
  • Perform regression testing and validate requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain test documentation and collaborate with developers and product owners.
  • Gradually take on C#/.NET development tasks, including fixing bugs, implementing small features and writing unit tests.
  • Support automated testing and participate in code reviews and technical discussions.

Experience

  • BasicBasic understanding of software testing, including test case design, defect lifecycles and regression testing.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify edge cases, inconsistencies and unexpected user behaviour.
  • Understanding of how software issues impact users, including severity and potential workarounds.
  • Familiarity with programming and OOP fundamentals, including variables, control flow, classes, objects, inheritance and encapsulation.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases, client/server concepts, APIs and REST/SOAP.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON and XML.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience through internships, bootcamps or self-study.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and progress into software development.

Desirable

  • ISTQB Foundation or similar QA certification.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, TestRail, Selenium or Playwright.
  • Basic knowledge of C#/.NET, ASP.NET, JavaScript and SQL.
  • Experience with REST API tools such as Postman or Swagger.
  • Exposure to unit testing frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit or MSTest.
  • Understanding of Agile, CI/CD and modern software development practices.

Salary

Salary is dependent on experience but is looking to pay between Β£30,000-Β£40,000.

Location

This role is based in Bracknell and is office-based with a hybrid working model (2 days onsite, 3 days from home).
