As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you’ll be developing and maintaining control systems that ensure the efficiency, safety and quality of production processes. You’ll play a key role in automating processes, troubleshooting system issues and enhancing operational performance across our production facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Implement Control Systems: Develop, program and optimize control systems to automate production lines, including PLCs, SCADA systems and HMIs.
  • Process Automation: Implement solutions for process control to increase productivity and reduce downtime in production facilities.
  • API Integrations: Integrate various applications within the Control systems, providing remote monitoring and data exchange between control systems and higher-level business or monitoring systems to improve overall system efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot & Resolve Issues: Quickly diagnose and resolve control system issues to ensure smooth operation of equipment and machinery.
  • Collaborate with Production Teams: Work closely with engineering, production and maintenance teams to identify opportunities for system improvements and ensure seamless integration of control systems.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations and quality assurance processes.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of control systems, programming changes and troubleshooting procedures for future reference and compliance audits.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably in the food and beverage, manufacturing, automation or automotive industries.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens or Allen Bradley etc.), SCADA and HMI systems. Experience with process control and automated systems for production lines. Familiarity with PID tuning for production lines. Knowledge of industry-specific regulations (HACCP, GMP, etc.) and food safety standards. Knowledge of instrumentation and process equipment. Knowledge of Java, Python, C++ and VB scripting. Familiarity with Flow Charts, CAD Drawings and Image Processing (Canty Cameras).
  • Problem‑Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions quickly.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with cross‑functional teams, including operations, maintenance and quality assurance.
  • Commissioning: Experience with UK sites commissioning (which will involve time away from home).
