About the Role: We are a well-established, growing construction and fire protection business based in the Bridgend area, delivering residential sprinkler systems across South and West Wales. Following strong demand — driven in large part by the Welsh Government’s mandatory sprinkler legislation — we are looking for a skilled Residential Sprinkler Engineer to join our team. You’ll be responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of domestic and residential fire sprinkler systems in accordance with BS 9251:2021. This is a specialist role with excellent long-term prospects in one of the most consistently active markets in the UK for this discipline.
What You’ll Do:
- Install residential fire sprinkler systems to BS 9251:2021 on new build and retrofit projects across South Wales
- Carry out first and second fix installation of sprinkler pipework, heads, control valves, alarm systems, and water supplies if needed
- Commission and test completed systems, including flow and pressure testing and alarm activation checks, along with compliance paperwork
- Conduct routine servicing and maintenance inspections in line with manufacturer and regulatory requirements
- Work with a range of pipe materials including CPVC (e.g. BlazeMaster), copper, and steel as specified
- Read and work from hydraulic calculation outputs, layout drawings, and system design documentation, including any as fitted mark ups
- Liaise with site managers, other trades, building control, and end clients professionally
- Complete all relevant certification, commissioning records, and handover documentation accurately
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all site health & safety requirements
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience installing residential or commercial fire sprinkler systems — essential
- Sound working knowledge of BS 9251:2021 (domestic/residential sprinklers) — essential
- FIA, LPCB, or equivalent industry-recognised sprinkler qualification — highly desirable
- Experience working with CPVC pipework systems such as BlazeMaster is a strong advantage
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic calculation reports and system drawings
- Solid understanding of water supply requirements: mains-fed, tank-fed, and pump-boosted systems
- CSCS card and relevant site safety certifications
- Strong attention to detail — precision is critical in this discipline
- Full UK driving licence — essential
- A plumbing background is advantageous but not essential if sprinkler experience is strong
Note on qualifications: We welcome applications from candidates working towards formal qualifications. If you have solid hands-on sprinkler installation experience but are still completing your FIA accreditation or equivalent, we’d still like to hear from you — we actively support training and professional development.
The Package:
- BASE SALARY: £34,000 – £42,000 DOE
- COMPANY VAN: Provided & Insured
- TOOLS & EQUIPMENT: Fully Supplied
- FUEL CARD: Included
- HOLIDAY: 28 Days inc. Bank Holidays
- PENSION: Company Pension Scheme
- TRAINING: FIA / Accreditation Support
- OVERTIME: Available & Well Paid
Why Join Us:
- Wales leads the UK on mandatory residential sprinklers — our pipeline of work is consistent, varied, and long-term
- A specialist, respected discipline — your skills are genuinely valued and rewarded
- Work across a range of projects from standard new builds to luxury residential developments
- A supportive team that invests in training and wants to see you progress
- Real career development opportunities into senior engineering, supervisory, or design roles
- We cover South and West Wales — you’ll be home each night with no excessive travel
