About Us
Pearce Elite Group is a multi-trade construction and mechanical services business based in Bridgend, operating across plumbing, heating, fire sprinkler systems, underground water mains, air source heat pumps, solid fuel appliances, and general building and construction. Founded in 2008, we work across the residential and new build sectors throughout South and West Wales and are continuing to grow across multiple divisions of the business.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations across the Pearce Elite Group, working closely with the Finance Director and senior management team. This is a hands-on role covering everything from VAT and payroll through to cash flow management and site-level profitability and is well suited to someone who enjoys getting into the detail as much as reporting the bigger picture.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time, ensuring full compliance with HMRC requirements (including CIS and reverse charge VAT considerations for construction)
- Manage weekly/monthly payroll for direct staff and subcontractors, including CIS deductions, PAYE, pensions and statutory payments
- Oversee corporation tax and personal tax liaison with external accountants, ensuring records are audit-ready
- Manage day-to-day cash flow across the Group, including forecasting, working capital, and timing of supplier/subcontractor payments
- Check supplier and subcontractor invoices against orders and agreed rates, identifying and querying overcharges or discrepancies before payment
- Produce site-by-site profit and loss reporting, working with Contracts and Site Managers to track costs against valuations and flag variances early
- Maintain accurate management accounts and provide monthly financial reporting to the Finance Director and Managing Directors
- Support budgeting, cost control and financial planning across each trading division of the Group
- Assist with year-end accounts preparation and liaison with external auditors/accountants
- Maintain robust financial controls, processes and record-keeping across the business
- Support ad hoc commercial and financial analysis for the senior management
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar senior finance role, ideally within construction, trades or a project-based business
- Strong working knowledge of VAT (including CIS), payroll and general tax compliance
- Confident with cash flow management and forecasting in a multi-project environment
- Experience reviewing supplier/subcontractor invoices and cost control on live contracts
- Ability to produce clear site/job-level profit and loss reporting
- AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified/part-qualified, or qualified by experience
- Strong Excel skills; experience with construction/accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, or similar) an advantage
- Highly organised, discreet and comfortable working closely with company directors on sensitive financial information
- Good communicator and works well with the team
- Full UK driving licence
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience
- A key role within a growing, family-run group of companies
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and real influence over financial decision-making
- On-site parking, Bridgend
