Pear Talent is representing an international Insurance group, who have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Group Accountant in the City. This is a varied role that encompasses reviewing, producing and analysing the Group's financial results. It involves coordination across Group and business units, interlinking between financial metrics to ensure coherent results. You'll be part of a high calibre team, with regular exposure to senior management and involvement in business-wide Finance change and improvement initiatives.
Experience: Insurance + External Audit OR Financial Reporting
Offices: City of London (2 days WFH)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver the group external financial reporting (IFRS financial statements), including new business, interim reports and analyst pack.
- Analyse the consolidated group results to produce commentary for both internal management and external stakeholders.
- Produce various group disclosures for inclusion in the annual report and accounts, interims and reports to analysts.
- Maintain a business partnering relationship between group financial reporting and key contacts in the business units to ensure a wider understanding of the underlying business at a group office level.
- Take a significant role on a finance project and other ad-hoc initiatives.
Required experience:
- The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with Insurance experience either from (i) External Audit with a leading Top10 accounting practice, or (ii) previous financial accounting/reporting experience in the Insurance industry.
- Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA etc.)
- Good understanding of statutory financial statements (UKGAAP/IFRS) and financial reporting processes for Insurance companies.
- Experience of group consolidated accounts and financial statement preparation (or audit).
- Strong team player and ability to multitask.
- Able to maintain motivation and deliver quality to tight deadlines without supervision.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Professional, self-motivated, pro-active individual, capable of assimilating information quickly in order to be effective in a short period of time.
- Ability to operate at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to implement improvements in an environment of change.
