Pear Talent is representing a FTSE100 insurer who are looking for a Director of Financial Reporting to lead a team x50 across multiple locations. You’ll oversee the delivery of all key external financial and regulatory reporting, whilst working closely with the CFO/ExCo to improve financial control and management. You’ll also own and drive a major Finance Transformation Programme. improving reporting processes and systems, as well as working on the integration of a major acquisition.

The role involves some travel within UK and this company are supportive of flexible working from home.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead the delivery of all core financial (IFRS) and regulatory (Solvency II) reporting, providing high-quality financial analysis, commentary and disclosures.
  • Significant day-to-day interaction with CFO/ExCo stakeholders internally, as well as managing the external audit relationship.
  • Review and challenge of results and messaging, to ensure these are accurate and in line with expectations.
  • Work closely with FP&A to understand and message the results consistently across forecast and actuals and provide FP&A support to understand the impact of key business decisions on actuals.
  • Work closely with Investor Relations to support external messaging.
  • Actively challenge the status-quo of current processes and systems, exploring any potential improvements.
  • Own and manage the external audit relationship
  • Ensure the finance team is motivated and performing to the highest standard.
  • Partner with all elements of the business on complex transactions and accounting issues.
  • Continuous engagement with other functions such as the Treasury, Tax, Legal and M&A teams on specific projects.

Required experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience (10yrs+)
  • Insurance industry experience, or FTSE100 listed FS
  • Proven track record of managing significant external reporting processes (IFRS/SII)
  • Experience of leading change/transformation ie process improvement projects
  • Quickly gains credibility at senior/Exec level, able to support, influence and challenge
  • Large team management experience
