Director of Financial Planning and Analysis
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead a team of 7 and own all financial planning, analysis, and business performance management for an award‑winning international insurance business engaged in organic and M&A growth.
Key accountabilities
- Lead interaction with the Group CEO, CFO and divisional MDs/FDs, implementing Group plans and strategy at division level to drive performance.
- Analyse financial performance, plans and forecasts, cash and capital usage, and evaluate investment proposals.
- Deliver high‑quality business insight to support and influence strategic decision‑making; provide ad‑hoc commercial analysis for the Executive team.
- Drive the development of new MI and processes to improve the quality, speed and usefulness of metrics and forecasts.
- Lead business target setting for the annual planning process, ensuring alignment between divisional strategic plans and the Group plan.
- Review and challenge divisional plans and financial targets; bring strategic issues and relevant analysis to the Executive team.
- Understand market and competitor environment, assessing impacts on internal strategies, plans and targets.
- Meet regularly with divisional FDs & MDs to gain comprehensive understanding of their business, strategy and financial performance.
- Prepare insightful briefings for senior management, Group Exec and Board on performance vs. plans.
- Support divisional leaders to anticipate challenges and identify opportunities to enhance performance.
Required experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with significant post‑qualified experience in insurance or a PE‑backed financial services company.
- Proven track record leading FP&A, managing business performance through insight, analysis and business partnering with senior leadership.
- Prior experience leading function‑wide transformation programmes to improve processes and systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with ability to constructively challenge and influence at all levels, including Executive level.
- Comprehensive market knowledge of the business’s operating markets, products, strategies and risks, and a detailed understanding of performance drivers.
