This is a chance to take your application support experience into a more operational leadership position at a Bristol-based media analytics scale-up. You’ll sit between Engineering, Analytics and client-facing teams, making sure monthly data releases are reliable, accurate and on time – and that issues get unblocked quickly and sensibly.
The Role:
- Own and improve the monthly release run book, monitoring ETL/data pipelines and checks to keep delivery on track.
- Make light technical fixes (patching existing Python/SQL scripts, restarting/re-running jobs) and know when to elevate deeper changes to Engineering.
- Act as the go-to support contact for Analytics and client-facing teams when there are questions or issues with the data.
- Drive continuous improvement: automate repetitive tasks, refine documentation, tighten monitoring and simplify processes, while keeping the release schedule as priority number one.
- Help guide and oversee a more junior team member involved in the release and support process.
The Candidate:
- 2nd line support / application support / data operations / release engineering background – you enjoy keeping production systems stable more than pure greenfield development.
- Comfortable with Python and SQL at maintenance level: reading existing code, making small fixes, and applying workarounds rather than building complex solutions from scratch.
- Clear, calm communicator with non-technical stakeholders; able to make pragmatic calls that balance “better tech” with “what the business needs now”.
- Experience taking ownership, handling escalations, and supporting or mentoring a more junior colleague.
