Data Migration Analyst | Bristol | Permanent | Up to ÂŁ35,000 p.a.
Peaple Talent have partnered with a software business in Bristol looking to recruit for a Data Migration Analyst.
Our client is a standalone software business, widely recognised for their product that helps drive efficiency, enhance productivity, and consistently deliver a high standard of customer experience. Their success is built not only on the quality of their products, but on the way they support and partner with organisations they serve.
The team is made up of ambitious individuals who are motivated by progress, personal development, and raising standards across the business. They are seeking people who share this mindset and who want to contribute meaningfully to a growing, forward‑thinking organisation.
Strong values underpin everything our client does, shaping how people collaborate, make decisions, and deliver results.
In this role, you’ll be trusted to take ownership of your work and its impact, while operating within a culture that balances challenge with genuine support. You’ll also be joining a workplace that places importance on connection beyond the day job, with an active social environment and a clear commitment to social responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the Projects team, this role is accountable for the planning and execution of all client data and document migrations across multiple project engagements. You will ensure migration activities are delivered within agreed timelines and scope, while maintaining accuracy, security, and consistency throughout the process.
You will act as the primary specialist for all data and document migration‑related enquiries, including providing technical guidance during pre‑sales discussions. This position carries end‑to‑end ownership of migration activity across all customer implementations and upgrades.
- Provide expert advice to prospects and clients on data and document migration approaches for both our client’s desktop and cloud‑based solutions, including support during pre‑sales engagements.
- Reduce operational disruption by effectively managing data mapping, defining migration scope, and maintaining accurate project plans and risk registers.
- Maintain full accountability for client data throughout the migration lifecycle, ensuring compliance with internal policies, security standards, and data retention or destruction requirements; promptly elevate any data‑related incidents, errors, or miscommunication to the Directors.
- Maintain detailed audit trails of all data and physical media received, transferred, or disposed of, ensuring timely deletion of data following implementation or upgrade completion.
- Work closely with Project Managers to identify and elevate risks, delays, or blockers at the earliest opportunity to ensure visibility for both clients and senior leadership.
- Perform data cleansing, extraction (where applicable for desktop‑to‑cloud projects), mapping, and transformation of both static and transactional datasets into client environments.
- Proactively identify data integrity issues such as missing fields or invalid records, coordinating with client stakeholders to resolve issues without impacting delivery timelines.
- Conduct thorough quality assurance checks before and after migration to confirm accuracy and readiness for go‑live.
- Support wider implementation activity, including database quality checks and configuration of templates or precedents as requested by Project Managers or the Projects Team Lead.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, tooling, or technical approaches, contributing recommendations through formal change and governance forums.
- Assist Senior Technical Support Consultants with complex migrations or advanced SQL queries during support‑led upgrades, such as patch or version updates.
Key Experience Required
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, with the capability to build, modify, and maintain migration scripts, as well as execute ad‑hoc queries to diagnose and resolve data issues.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including handling complex datasets and analysis.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams while delivering to demanding timelines.
- Solid understanding of our client’s database architecture and table structures.
- Clear and confident communicator, with strong written and verbal skills.
- Experience handling sensitive information securely, including safe transfer and storage practices.
- Comfortable maintaining detailed data movement records, including logs and auditable trails.
- Commercially minded, with the judgement to elevate risks or issues that may affect delivery schedules, budgets, or agreed outcomes.
- Strong awareness of information governance principles, risk controls, and the importance of maintaining strict client confidentiality.
