Peaple Talent have exclusively partnered with CFMS who are recruiting a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. You will be part of CFMS’ Engineering Computing Services team, supporting and developing the data centre, on-prem cloud and HPC platforms used by internal teams and external clients. The role focuses on private cloud, Linux based systems and high performance computing, ensuring platforms are reliable, scalable and aligned with business objectives. Working closely with the Head of ECS, you will support day to day operations while helping shape cloud and infrastructure strategy across on-prem and public environments. Based on site in Bristol.
What you’ll be doing:
- Run and maintain CFMS’ data centre infrastructure, with a focus on private cloud and distributed storage platforms.
- Administer Openstack and Proxmox environments and Ceph-based storage systems.
- Support development teams with reliable network and infrastructure services.
- Share knowledge and support the development of junior engineers, contributing to continuous improvement.
The technology environment:
- In house HPC cluster
- GPU and AI accelerator servers
- Openstack and Proxmox private cloud
- High performance networking
What you will bring:
- Strong experience with enterprise Linux environments such as Ubuntu or RedHat.
- Hands on expertise with distributed storage platforms, ideally Ceph.
- Experience running private cloud platforms such as Openstack and/or Proxmox.
- A solid understanding of server-class infrastructure and Linux based systems.
- Working knowledge of automation and infrastructure tooling including git, Terraform and Ansible.
- An awareness of Linux security, patching and secure system deployment.
