Peaple Talent have been engaged by a key client in Bristol to identify an experienced Network & Security professional to support a large-scale network refresh programme alongside ongoing operational support. This is an initial 3-month contract opportunity, ideally suited to someone who enjoys operating across both hands-on technical delivery and wider operational oversight within a small but collaborative infrastructure team. Potential to be extended.

You’ll play a key role in the early stages of a major network transformation, supporting the migration from an existing Cisco environment to Juniper infrastructure. The overall network design has already been completed, so the focus will be on implementation, coordination, operational process improvements and ensuring smooth delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

The Role

You will be working closely with internal infrastructure and security teams, alongside outsourced SOC/SIEM providers, supporting both project delivery and day-to-day operational activity. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting a network refresh programme, migrating from Cisco infrastructure to Juniper hardware
  • Acting as the technical lead across Juniper implementation activities, including change controls, test plans and deployment coordination
  • Managing and supporting a small team of Network and Security Engineers
  • Overseeing ticket queues, operational priorities and change management processes
  • Supporting WAN connectivity and wider enterprise networking issues
  • Working alongside Digital Project Managers to coordinate overlapping infrastructure and security projects
  • Leading improvements across operational documentation, support processes and technical governance
  • Supporting security investigations and working closely with third-party SOC/SIEM providers
  • Providing technical guidance across network, firewall and security-related incidents and escalations
  • Ensuring project and operational documentation is maintained to a high standard

Technical Environment

The environment is predominantly Microsoft-focused and includes:

  • Juniper LAN Switching
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Splunk
  • Nessus
  • Nutanix AHV
  • Windows Infrastructure

Experience Required

We’re looking for someone with strong enterprise networking and security experience, ideally within complex or multi-site environments. Key experience includes:

  • Strong experience with Juniper networking technologies
  • Experience supporting or delivering network refresh/migration projects
  • Knowledge of enterprise WAN networking and security best practices
  • Experience with firewall technologies including Juniper SRX and Palo Alto
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring engineers within an operational environment
  • Exposure to EDR, SIEM and SOC tooling
  • Experience working with third-party managed security providers
  • Comfortable operating across both BAU support and project delivery
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working within multi-disciplined infrastructure or IT teams
  • Security testing exposure
  • Knowledge of IEC 62443
  • Exposure to cloud networking technologies
