The Opportunity
We are working with an established building services business in Cardiff that is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Buyer to support its continued growth and ongoing project delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional with a strong electrical background within the building services or M&E sector. You will play a key role in sourcing electrical materials, managing supplier relationships and ensuring project teams receive the right products at the right price and at the right time.
The successful candidate will understand the demands of electrical contracting and building services projects, bringing a proactive approach to purchasing, cost management and supplier negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure electrical materials, components and equipment to support ongoing building services and M&E projects.
- Source competitive quotations from suppliers and negotiate pricing, discounts and commercial terms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with electrical wholesalers, manufacturers and specialist suppliers.
- Work closely with project managers, estimators, contracts managers and site teams to understand material requirements and project deadlines.
- Ensure materials are ordered accurately and delivered in line with project programmes.
- Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs and improve value without compromising quality or project specifications.
- Manage purchase orders, monitor deliveries and resolve any supplier or material-related issues.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure procurement processes are followed.
- Monitor supplier performance, availability and lead times to minimise delays to project delivery.
About You
- Previous experience in an Electrical Buyer or similar procurement role within the building services, M&E or electrical contracting sector.
- Strong knowledge of electrical materials, components and equipment used across commercial building services projects.
- Established relationships with electrical wholesalers, manufacturers and suppliers would be highly advantageous.
- Experience obtaining quotations, negotiating prices and managing supplier relationships.
- Commercially aware, with a focus on cost control, value for money and efficient procurement.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple orders and competing project deadlines.
- Confident communicating with internal project teams and external suppliers.
- A proactive, hands‑on approach and the ability to work effectively within an office‑based team in Cardiff.
