Technical Specialist/Technical Writer – Glasgow

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our Global Service team, where you’ll be instrumental in driving activities and initiatives that ensure we provide world-class product and technical support. (not IT related) Reporting to the Global Technical Manager, you will take ownership of our Technical Documentation across the Peak Group. Your expertise and technical competence will make you a key member of our service function, acting both as a technical product specialist and a technical writer.
Duties include:
- Creating, reviewing, and maintaining high quality technical documentation and training material.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues escalated from regional Service teams
- Contributing to Technical and Service Delivery projects and initiatives globally.
- Acting as representative and advocate of the service and technical teams on new product developments, taking ownership of technical documentation – service manuals, training material etc.
- Collaborating with the Global Technical Training team to support training programs to internal and external customers.
- Responsibility for creating, updating and maintaining accurate Technical Documentation as per standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO14001 as appropriate.
- Being a process and content owner for Technical Bulletins.
- Supporting product changes and improvements by liaising with regional teams and functions; ensuring service teams have the knowledge and information available to deliver service and support effectively.
This role would suit someone who has experience of creating and reviewing technical documentation. You’ll enjoy collaborating with colleagues to drive projects through to completion whilst ensuring compliance is adhered to. You’ll be joining a supportive team where you’ll be encouraged to take ownership of processes and bring your user-centre thinking to the table.
In addition, you will possess:
- Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, pneumatic and electrical schematics to support technical troubleshooting and documentation
- Able to interface comfortably with customers at all levels both internally and externally
- Exceptional writing and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, very organised and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Ability to organise and structure content logically and coherently
- Analytical skills to break down complex information into simple and easy to understand content
- Ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical writing tools
