An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to join the Peak District National Park Authority. Working within a small, busy team based in Bakewell, you will play a key role in delivering an ambitious programme of capital projects across one of the most varied and distinctive public sector estates in the country - from North Lees and Warslow Moors to the Monsal, Tissington and High Peak Trails, National Park Centres and operational properties across the Park.

You will take an active role across a varied and ambitious capital programme, contributing your own design thinking to new projects alongside the full range of building surveying work, from condition surveys through to procurement and contract management. With significant capital investment to deliver, there is genuine scope to shape projects that will support the National Park's operational future and generate long-term income. The role offers exceptional breadth across both traditional heritage buildings and modern construction, making it ideal for a chartered surveyor or someone actively working towards MRICS or CIOB.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant qualification (RICS, CIOB, degree or HNC) and be able to demonstrate practical experience across a range of building types and construction methods. Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage your own workload and lead projects, and good communication skills are essential.

You will hold either Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or a BSc/HNC in Building Surveying, together with extensive relevant experience. You will have experience in building surveying and project delivery, strong knowledge of construction and building regulations, and the ability to manage contracts and contractors effectively. You will also possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, and be able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

We also offer hybrid working (up to 40% homeworking) following your induction period. A high-quality defined benefit pension scheme (2 years to qualifying period), 26-31 days holiday (plus bank holidays) with the option to purchase more, volunteering leave and free parking at most of our offices. Please check out our Total Reward Brochure on our website to see what else we offer.

We recognise the importance of our national park, and our job is to speak up and care for the Peak District National Park for all to enjoy forever. This is a fixed-term role for 2 years from appointment.

We are a Disability Confident employer and have committed to offering an interview to a proportionate number of applicants who declare a disability, if they meet the minimum criteria for the job. If you are unable to apply online and require a Word version of the application form, please contact our HR team.
