We’re seeking an experienced Climate and National Park Strategy Manager to lead our strategic planning and performance function, with a strong focus on collaboration and partnership working. This is initially a 3 year fixed term contract covering a secondment.

About the Role

You will lead the development, delivery and monitoring of the National Park Management Plan and Authority Plan, ensuring they are evidence-based, aligned with national policy, and shaped through meaningful engagement with partners. You will also play a central role in coordinating the Authority’s response to climate change. This includes ensuring the new Management Plan incorporates clear and deliverable climate adaptation measures, and that climate resilience is embedded across decision-making, plans and strategies—both within the Authority and in partnership with stakeholders.

This is a highly collaborative role, requiring you to work closely with Members, officers, and a wide range of stakeholders to ensure shared ownership and successful delivery of our plans. You’ll bring together data, research and insight to inform decision-making, oversee organisational performance, and ensure we remain a forward-thinking, data-led Authority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Strategy and Performance team
  • Develop and deliver key strategic plans in partnership with stakeholders
  • Engage and influence partners to secure buy-in and joint delivery
  • Monitor performance and produce clear reports on progress
  • Lead corporate planning and risk management
  • Oversee data, insight and the State of the Park Report
  • Drive a collaborative approach to climate change strategy

About You

  • Experience in strategy, planning or performance roles
  • Strong partnership and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent analytical, communication and leadership abilities
  • Experience working with data, policy and collaborative delivery
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver evidence-based strategies
  • Experience in climate change adaptation planning
  • Strong project management skills
