We are currently working with a well-established main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Pre-Construction Project Manager to join their team in Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity to join a contractor with a strong pipeline of government and private sector projects across the North East.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting projects from pre-construction through to delivery, ensuring programmes, resources and project teams are fully aligned before work begins on site.
The Role
As Pre-Construction Project Manager, you will take responsibility for coordinating the early stages of construction projects, working closely with clients, design teams, commercial teams and operational staff to ensure projects are planned effectively and delivered successfully. You will be responsible for developing programmes, managing risk, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring projects are prepared to meet targets around production, safety, quality and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with clients, customers and design teams throughout the pre-construction phase
- Work closely with the commercial team to support financial reporting and project forecasting
- Develop and manage project programmes and monitor progress against key milestones
- Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments and safety plans
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations as Principal Contractor
- Support the selection and management of subcontractors and define scopes of work
- Coordinate materials, labour and design information to maintain project timelines
- Provide leadership and support to site teams and project personnel
- Chair subcontractor meetings and attend client and design team meetings
- Identify and report potential contractual or commercial risks
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards
About You
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within a main contractor environment
- Experience working on major construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of pre-construction planning and programme development
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders including clients, consultants and subcontractors
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Good commercial awareness and ability to manage project risks
Qualifications & Requirements
- SMSTS (5 Day)
- First Aid at Work
- CSCS Manager’s Card
- Fire Marshal training (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
