We are currently working with a well-established groundworks contractor operating across the Central Belt of Scotland, who are looking to appoint an Estimator to strengthen their commercial and pre-construction team. This role would ideally suit an experienced Site Engineer (or similar) with a strong understanding of groundworks and civil engineering projects who is looking to transition into an office-based estimating role.
The Role: As Estimator, you will be responsible for pricing groundworks and civil engineering packages across a range of projects, supporting tender submissions and working closely with operational and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing take-offs and estimates for groundworks and civils projects.
- Pricing labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor packages.
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
- Assisting with tender submissions and bid documentation.
- Working closely with site and project teams to ensure buildable, accurate pricing.
About You:
- Background as a Site Engineer / Section Engineer / Sub Agent within groundworks or civil engineering.
- Strong understanding of groundworks construction methods, sequencing, and costs.
- Keen to move into an estimating or pre-construction role.
- Good IT skills; experience with estimating software is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail and a commercial mindset.
