We are currently working with a well-established groundworks contractor operating across the Central Belt of Scotland, who are looking to appoint an Estimator to strengthen their commercial and pre-construction team. This role would ideally suit an experienced Site Engineer (or similar) with a strong understanding of groundworks and civil engineering projects who is looking to transition into an office-based estimating role.

The Role: As Estimator, you will be responsible for pricing groundworks and civil engineering packages across a range of projects, supporting tender submissions and working closely with operational and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing take-offs and estimates for groundworks and civils projects.
  • Pricing labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor packages.
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Assisting with tender submissions and bid documentation.
  • Working closely with site and project teams to ensure buildable, accurate pricing.

About You:

  • Background as a Site Engineer / Section Engineer / Sub Agent within groundworks or civil engineering.
  • Strong understanding of groundworks construction methods, sequencing, and costs.
  • Keen to move into an estimating or pre-construction role.
  • Good IT skills; experience with estimating software is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commercial mindset.
